Come back here after six years, still the best coffee and best toast on the island.(2025) Great coffee! Probably the best I've ever tasted in Japan.(2019)

We stopped by Akaito for an early morning coffee before beginning our adventures in Naoshima. The lovely owners greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. The shop is tucked away in a residential area, giving it a peaceful, quiet atmosphere. We enjoyed an iced latte, a hot latte, and cinnamon toast — all prepared to a high standard. It was a delightful experience, and we would definitely recommend a visit.

A couple of minutes walk from Miyanoura port, this cafe caters calm and hospitable ambience with delicious drinks and desserts. The cheese cake I had was quite good, not too heavy, not too sweet, but light lemony taste on it. An excellent place to pass time while waiting for ferries.

This was the first stop of our visit to Naoshima, selected on the boat while arriving on this lovely island: great choice! Maybe not a traditional Japanese breakfast, but a great one for us, with good iced tea and coffee, nice scones and a great chocolate gateau! All this in a very warm context and with a kind service. Thanks!

Stopped by Akaito Coffee while waiting for the next ferry and ended up chilling here for about an hour—such a cozy and welcoming spot. The coffee was delicious (note: no espresso, but great drip and pour-over), and the baked goods were fresh and tasty. The owner was super friendly, which made the experience even better. A perfect place to unwind before or after your ferry ride.

Excellent homely cafe, located a few minutes walk from the ferry port. Serving nice drinks and bakes. The cocoa, campagne and chocolate scone were all delicious. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

I stayed at Quaint House for a night. In the morning, I had breakfast here at Akaito Coffee. The cafe was amazingly well decorated. We ordered some desserts ( a scone, a cake) a toast and cups of coffee. I think it is worth a try. If you like its coffee, you can buy coffee drip bags at the cafe. Right opposite the cafe, there is a house with a dog. It looks cute! If you sit by the windows, you can enjoy the quiet views of the island. Inside the cafe, there is a corner where there were books for diners to read and souvenirs to buy. Outside the cafe, there was some space where it was also decorated. You could take a lot of pictures at the cafe. I would say Naoshima Island is really an excellent spot if you aim at a relaxing trip in Japan. I stayed for a night on the island but I am sure I would at least two nights the next time when I visit the island. I would slow down my pace and chill out there. Having breakfast at different cafes would be my choice. And I would have a meal at Akaito Coffee again if I visit Naoshima Island in the future.
